my favorite healthy snacks

Snacking is one of the main ways I eat on a daily basis. Finding just the right snack to hit that craving is always difficult for me. I very rarely want one specific thing to eat: if I tell you I want something, it means I really want it. Normally, I’m fairly indifferent and can find something I can eat anywhere. So, in comes snacking. It makes it easier for me to eat throughout the day when I don’t have to carve out 20-45 minutes to cook and eat a meal. These are the snacks I turn to when I want to give my body enough nutrition to get through the day, yet still enjoy. I hope you do too!

Dates and Honey Almond Butter

Making these could not be easier if you tried. Remove the pit from the date by gently cutting in and scooping out, or tearing and removing with your fingers (I go for the latter). Place a dollop of almond butter and some honey (or go for the Justin’s Honey Almond Butter) and enjoy! These hit the sweet tooth craving, taste so much like a Snicker’s bar, and after 1 or 2, I’ve satisfied my craving and am ready to go about my day. HIGHLY recommend.

Cucumbers, Dill, and a Dab of Sour Cream

I just slice up some cucumber into thin slices, cut up some fresh dill, and a spoonful of sour cream and mix. It’s insanely good with a little squeeze of lemon to give a citrusy fresh feel to the snack. Add some salt and pepper along with any other seasonings you might enjoy, and get to snacking!

Deconstructed Apple Pie

This is one of my favorite things to make and not only is it sweet and warm, but super healthy. Take any red apple of your choosing and cut it into small bite sized pieces. Coat the apples in cinnamon and toss. To enjoy quickly, place in the microwave for 15-30 seconds and enjoy some warm cinnamon-y apples!

This is even better if you have a ripened banana and place in a saucepan. Mash and cook the banana down into a pulp over medium low heat stirring constantly until it starts to slightly bubble. Pour the apples in, already coated in cinnamon, and cook the apples down for a few minutes until slightly soft. This is SO DELICIOUS. (Highly recommend eating this with oatmeal.)

Cucumber Sandwiches

This way seem like one of the bell pepper sandwich videos from Tik Tok, but just trust me, this is so worth it. Take a cucumber and cut into thick slices. Place a dollop of cream cheese, a dash of sriracha, everything bagel seasoning onto a slice and top with another cucumber slice. This is SO yummy and after a few of these, you’ll have satisfied that snack craving! (I don’t eat meat, but some people in my family like to take ham or turkey and tear it up to place in the middle FYI!)

For me, snacking allows me to make sure I eat throughout the day. As someone who has constantly struggled in her relationship with food, things like this are so helpful as guiding points throughout the day when I don’t feel like I should eat, but I need to. Always put yourself and your body first. You’re worth it!
